Pluta Comprehensive Breast Care
Through the Pluta Comprehensive Breast Care Program at Wilmot Cancer Institute, an NCI-Designated Cancer Center, the Foundation has invested in providing access to the highest quality cancer care while keeping patients close to home. Contributions to this program support an early phase of clinical trials called Developmental Therapeutics, which moves new discoveries quickly from the lab to personalized patient treatments. For patients with aggressive or rare cancers, these therapies will provide more options and more hope.
Pluta Professor of Breast Care, Dr. Anna Weiss
Dr. Anna Weiss was appointed as the inaugural Pluta Professor in Breast Care in 2025. The endowed professorship created by Pluta Cancer Foundation provides ongoing funding for Wilmot Cancer Institute’s leader in clinical breast oncology.
Dr. Weiss is an associate professor of surgery and oncology whose research focuses on improving outcomes for patients undergoing treatment for breast cancer. A nationally recognized expert in breast surgical oncology, Dr. Weiss brings an unwavering commitment to her patients, trainees, and the advancement of cancer care.

The Foundation provides funding for professional development for Pluta Cancer Center staff, including certifications, professional memberships, and conference attendance. We also show appreciation for PCC caregivers with employee engagement events throughout the year, creating opportunities for connection, recognition, and gratitude.
